Being Thankful

Some days I forget what it means to be thankful. Not just saying "thanks" but to really be thankful. To be on my knees in gratitude to the Lord. To feel a heart that is full to overflowing because of the enormous number of blessings that have been given to such an unworthy soul, but to be grateful that I have them and inspired and encouraged to live up to the expectation that comes with those blessings.

My cousin's little boy has been sick since he was born. He has struggled off an on and is struggling again now. Her most recent post (http://skinnerfamilynews.blogspot.com/2009/10/sometimes.html) made me think about the great blessing it is to have healthy children. And what that means.

We each have our own struggles and trials in this life, but something that I have been taught recently is that we really have no idea what another persons life is like. We can think we understand but there is more then we can imagine that goes into their decisions, their trials, their relationships and their lives in general.

I am grateful for the trials I have because I know that they may stretch me more then I thought I could handle, but that I will, in the end, be able to handle whatever comes.
