Happy New Year! I've been thinking about how I want to start 2011 and how I've finished 2010. Then I realized that 2010 is the first decade I've finished as an adult. Then I saw a post by my friend Heather chronicling a lot of the things that she had completed in the last 10 years and it got me thinking about what I've done in the last 10 years and what I want to do with the next 10. So here is at least a partial list of all of the things that have happened in the last 10 years (not in any particular order). I've realized though that there are some things that I've learned or accomplished that just cannot be condensed into 3-4 words.
* got my drivers license * graduated from High School * went to college * met JD * received my Endowment * got Married * held 6 jobs * got pregnant (seven times) * had two beautiful boys * celebrated 8 wedding anniversaries * learned to quilt * drove the ALCAN (Alaska Canada Highway) three times * learned a lot about patience * moved 8 times * learned to REALLY use a computer * helped JD graduate with a Bachelor's Degree * became an aunt * taught a cooking group (for 2 years) * learned what it means to have faith * helped JD graduate with a Law Degree * learned how to understand toddler speak * lost 65 pounds (twice) * started running (at least 300 miles so far) * read 100 books * learned how to paint walls * learned to change and outlet & a light fixture * learned to slow down * learned to be (more) punctual * went camping * started a blog (or two) * learned to make bread * learned to appreciate a good mushroom * perfected homemade pizza * watched Cars at least 100 times * bought our first TV * owned 3 cars * watched Star Wars * had surgery * made lots of friends *
This decade has been very blessed, very difficult at times, but I look back and don't want to change... much (maybe a few personal interactions). I am excited for what the next decade brings and hope that it includes expanding our family, buying a house, paying off our student debt and many other wonderful things. Happy New Year. I hope that this new year brings blessings and joy to each of you.
